National Cookie Day

Today is National Cookie Day!

How could I not celebrate this holiday?  With 5 kids at home I would be in big trouble ignoring such an important holiday to kids.  Yeah.. it's for the kids.

Today we will be making an old favorite.
(We use lots of peanut butter but any nut butter can be substituted, we are just lucky enough not to suffer from allergies)
Peanut Butter Noodle Cookies (No Bake)
Chocolate Oatmeal Refrigerator Cookies (No Bake)
Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies
Italian Pastry cookies (Hubby's 94 yr old Grandma's recipe)
I want Snickerdoodles but only because I have the patience to wait the hours while the dough rests.

What cookie is your favorite?

World AIDS Day

Today is dedicated to spreading awareness about the spread of AIDS and HIV.  My hope is that my children will be raising an AIDS free generation. Did you know that with the United States of America's President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) helps provide anti-retro viral medicines for over 5.1 million people worldwide?
To put an end to AIDS and HIV we need to work together as a whole across all humanity.

Please do your part to help leave a better world for our children.  I'm doing my part to leave better children for the World.

Educate yourself!  Get Tested! Always practice safe sex!

I remember my first time hearing about AIDS and HIV.  I was in 6th grade sitting in the library watching a video.  I was traumatized to learn that the same act that makes a baby could kill you. (over simplified in my childish mind)  I didn't want to even share a seat on the bus with a boy for the next week. The next free day I went back to the library and looked up more. There was still much misinformation at the time it was still very unknown.
