How to Catch Happy ~ E-book Review

I was given the opportunity to read, How to Catch Happy, a wonderfully worded e-book. A delightful read about fishing for happiness. What makes you happy in life? Do you remember what makes you truly happy?  This e-book isn't a 10 step process but insightful stories that will awaken you to the happiness in your life.  

Reading this book made me encourage my husband to find a job that he loves, rather than keep the stable one he hates. (even if the insurance is good)  Life is too short to spend it doing things you don't enjoy. I recently found a balance between a job I love and being a mom that makes me happy. Staying home raising my kids and being an Independent Scentsy Consultant.  He deserves the same fulfillment.

I can't wait to share this book with my parents.  My mom recently got a e-reader for her birthday so she would love to have this wonderful enlightening life guide.

Potty Talk: Monkey See, Monkey Do

Recently, Maxx has shown interest in potty training.  Now that we have tile floors throughout it's a less overwhelming mess to clean when there are accidents.

Imagine my surprise when Maxx came to em and asked to go and willingly went to the potty himself.  Maxx is only two and with all the warnings of the difficulty of potty training boys echoing in my head.  I was stunned to watch my toddler clamber up onto the big potty like a little spider monkey.  He quickly did his business and jumped off again to check his progress.  He was down and cheering himself before I could recover my shock.

It all started with a curiosity for everything going on in the bathroom.  No that is not an escape hatch.. I just like to use the restroom without an audience..  No I don't need applause.. Thank you, I've been a big girl a long time.  After finally giving in to his unending onslaught he wanted to just sit in the bathroom with you as you went. Adding "Eww Gross" for every noise he hears.

Daddy brought Maxx his own Lightning McQueen potty chair.  When the handle flushes is revs.  For a few weeks we knew when he had escaped to the bathroom when you could hear that revving.    Now that he had a seat of his own, he insisted to pull his pants down to sit on it to.  Barring the one time he tried to copy daddy and stand at the potty, there haven't been any messes.


Maxx had watched Daddy pee standing up.  Maxx proceeded to use his little potty to stand on. (it turns into a stool)  The only problem is he over trusted a fart... When a toddler yell "oh no Nasty!" from the bathroom it's never a good sign.

I am not pushing potty training, just as I didn't with my older kids.  Now that the weather has warmed up it will be a lot easier to work potty training with him, at least the days he is willing.  So far, no need for bribery, begging or blackmail.. but I may have just jinxed myself.

** Take your child with you to the restroom.  Let them see what you do while there.  It takes away the fear and anxiety of the potty. When they see mommy or daddy go potty they want to be just like them and are more likely to want to try.  The desire to try is HUGE.. cheer every attempt even if nothing happens other than a tush on the seat.**

A Reader's Confession

It's time I confessed.  I have something to admit.  I don't readily admit this to many people.  My guilty pleasure is reading romance novels.  Yeah, you read that right.  Romance novels.. with kissing.. Ewww.

My husband loves to mock me for my reading selections.  He calls them my dirty books.  I think that there are times he may be jealous of my books.  To be fair there are so many more books than him.  I think they even out weigh him. With over 200 paperback novels..  Not all of the books are romance novels though.  I do have murder mystery, sci-fi and a few others peppered in there.

I recently attempted to purge my book collection before we moved.  I did not want to have to listen to anyone complaining, Ugh.. another box of books.
I am a little sensitive about my collection of books.  It's better than my husband's collection of Star Wars toys.. still in the packages.. so he can look at them but NO TOUCHING!  ::eyeroll::

I did try purging my books, it didn't work out well.  Our yard sale got blown away in a nasty storm.  Maybe now that we have moved I can have a better yard sale.  I really need to get myself an e-reader.  Do they make one that is impossible to break, that can possibly withstand an attempt at being flushed in the toilet (the camera survived) and easy to read in bright light.  At least until I get my son's out of the toddler destruction years.
