I am thankful for my Scentsy Family business.  It may not support my family.. yet, but one day I will put the effort into it that I want out.  Like actually scheduling parties more than once every few months.  For now it provides me with enough income that I can buy some fun extras for my family.  No more buying a gift for my husband with his own money. Even though we have always said it is OUR money.. I know better.  It feels good to earn money after all these years of being a stay at home mom.

I feel blessed to be able to make my income while still being the stay at home mom that I want.  I love being part of a company that does not require monthly sales quotas to stay active.  I love that my company understands that family comes first.  They have even undertaken the task of improving the health of their consultants.

Light it Up at Scentsy Convention 2012

I am so excited to be going to Scentsy Family Convention 2012.  If you follow me on Twitter you would have already heard the buzz.

Las Vegas Hilton

As an Independent Scentsy Consultant I will be attending my first convention July 25th-27th.  Luckily this year it is in fabulous Las Vegas.  Hooray for a stay-cation!  Even  Las Vegas has dressed up for the occasion.

I can't wait!! Mommy gets a few days off! 
::guilty::  Ok so not too guilty now that little man is teething.  Daddy will be fully stocked with teething tablets and plenty of frozen breast milk.  Even though Scentsy Family is supportive of Breastfeeding mothers and will be providing cry rooms with monitors so you don't miss anything if you want to breastfeed in privacy and comfort. I will not be taking Magnus at just over 10 months old he is VERY active.  Being my first convention I didn't want to spend hours wrestling him and not be able to take notes on ways to boost my business to greater heights.  Sorry, Magnus.. you are stuck with Daddy.

Those 3 days are going to be filled with motivational speakers, new product reveals and even a whole new brand being released.   The first night alone there will be 3 different parties that you can attend.
The Scentsy Ultra Lounge ~ Lights music and dancing the perfect party.
Viva Las Vegas ~ Travel back to classic Las Vegas and party with the King of Rock 'n Roll.
Cirque De Scentsy ~ Amazing acrobats will wow you with their flipping, jumping, spinning and swinging.

I plan on checking in early on the first day to give me plenty of time to browse through the convention floor.  Complete with Scent room, where I will get to smell scents and vote for my favorites!!  There is so much it is hard to pick one thing I am excited about.  From product reveals (new products for the coming catalog), to the final reveal of Brand X (Scentsy Family's new brand to be released in the Fall)
Colbie Caillat will be performing at an exclusive concert, as well as other mystery entertainment.  It's not all fun and games there will be motivation, inspiration and training speakers there to help bring our business to new heights.  
I'm most excited to hear from Carrier Wilkerson, known as the Barefoot Executive.    I am looking forward to her helpful advice and examples on how to keep a healthy balance between family and work, while making my business flourish.

Scentsy for all Seasons

Being a Scentsy addict, I own multiple warmers that I change out throughout the seasons.  Depending on the time of year or holiday you visit my house in you will see different Scentsy Warmers on display.  When not in use they are in my China hutch which is slowly having more Scentsy Warmers than China on display.

<~ This Cupcake Mid-size is on display multiple times throughout the year for all the many birthday's in my family.

This Cherry Blossom warmer reminds me of the first true days of spring as all the trees bloom and festivals across the world are held in honor of this beautiful tree.  I didn't get to keep this warmer as my Mom fell in love and bought it from me before I could find a place for it in my own home. ~>

<~ This patriotic Star Spangled warmer is out for the Fourth of July.  With stars that look like the are ribbons sewn onto the warmer as if it were a real flag. 

In honor of all the many BBQ's we have from Spring into Fall, we put out our very first warmer we ever bought.  Tiki looks very cool with the holes placed for eyes, bringing the Tiki's face to life. ~>

My favorite season is Fall with the prevailing scent of cinnamon and wood smoke in the air.  My full-size Jack O' Lantern is out with matching plug-in.

Finally for our Winter display my husband bought me Blizzard with beautiful snowflake cut-outs for my birthday.  In all white it reminds me of snow days growing up.

My First Home Party

I never thought that I could make money just sharing information about something I love.  It's true though.  I finally found something I enjoy doing that will make money without taking over my life.  Don't get me wrong, I loved being a chef but it took over my life and left no time for my family.

I had my first Scentsy home party yesterday.  The anticipation building up to that first party was enormous.  I always hated speaking in front of groups of people, but always manage to get the point across without making myself feel like a fool.  Even though I set my alarm for early in the morning I still managed to wake before it excited to get started on the day.

As I set up all my Scentsy swag butterflies swarmed in my stomach.  Questions flooded my brain.  What if someone asks me a question and I get a brain fart?  What if they ask me something I really don't know?
I step back to admire the setup and take a calming breath.  I know this stuff.  I have loved Scentsy for months, using and appreciating their products.  I have worked hard to know the answers to any questions that could be asked.(well not that hard since they are all given to me)  This was going to be fun.

The doorbell rings to signal the arrival of the first guest.  The nerves disappear and a sense of excitement floods me.  I actually get to share my love of scentsy with another group of people.  If my family wasn't as hooked on scentsy as I am they would be sick of hearing about it.  More guests arrive and the party really starts.

I hand out a flower pens along with a card for the door prize drawings.  I see the spark of my excitement spread into the guests.  What could be better than going to pay someone for products and getting free stuff.  Since most already knew about the popular Scentsy products I let them loose on the enormous amount of testers armed with a wish list to write down their favorite scents as they sniff them.  

Only one person in the party was new to the Scentsy product line.  I took her under my wing and walked her through the products explaining their benefits and uses.  Explaining how the wax does not get hot enough to burn.  She watched in horror as I stuck my finger in the wax only to pull back a lightly coated finger.  This was a big selling point for her since she is an Elementary school teacher and if you have kids you know they cannot keep their fingers out of any pooling liquids.  (I know mine can't they have spilled more wax then I have.. which is an accomplishment)

I explained to everyone one of my favorite points about the Scentsy waxes.  Their ease of cleaning up.  I have managed to spill wax out of 1 warmer (1 out of the 5 I warm) every time I change my waxes.  Clean up is a breeze.  Just wipe with a paper towel if spilled on any hard surfaces. Got a stubborn spot?  I actually spilled wax down a textured wall. (don't ask how.. I'm just talented)  After a moment of panic I realized that this was not your average candle wax.  I got out my hair dryer and hit the spot with a full blast of hot air.   I quickly swiped with a paper towel as it began to soften.  This worked to clean the sink and hard wood floor I spilled on too.    I have yet to manage a worse spill.  ( I say yet because it is bound to happen in my house with 4 kids)  I have no fear of when the wax does spill on carpet, because I know that all it takes is a a paper bag and iron on low setting.  

The party was a great success. Everyone was very excited about all the products.  It felt great to give out the free swag for others to enjoy.

The party host is going to get out with quiet a few rewards for opening her home to her friends and letting me share my love of the wonderful Scentsy products.
